BARRE — The People’s Health & Wellness Clinic of Barre has expanded its oral health services to three days a week. Sandra Joslin, the clinic’s dental hygienist and oral health case manager, is seeing patients on site every Tuesday and Wednesday, and doing case management and referrals on Thursdays to more than a dozen central Vermont participating dentists who take the clinic’s patients for more advanced dental work.
“Being able to expand oral health services is a terrific benefit, as access to oral health remains the largest unmet community health need,” said Health & Wellness Executive Director Peter Youngbaer.
Joslin provides a wide array of services on site: Oral hygiene education, routine dental hygiene prophylaxis, emergency evaluation, digital bite-wing and panoramic X-rays, full-mouth deep cleanings, cavity stabilization, sealants and topical fluoride application/desensitization. She also consults on diet and nutrition, performs oral cancer screening, tobacco cessation counseling and case management.
The clinic provides primary health care and wellness education to uninsured and underinsured residents of central Vermont who meet income guidelines. Call 479-1229, or visit www.phwcvt.org.
