Shattuck, who was a printmaker and painter in her early career, has been developing and combining her skills over the past 20 years to become the creative and imaginative bookmaker she is today. Hobby turns into a business

Deidre Lozier is the founder and creative director of Mountain Honey Clothier, based in Rutland. Founding the company in 2013 after she began making clothing for her own children, Lozier sews love into every design. Here she discusses more details and the philosophy behind her business. What is the nature of your business? I make hand-crafted, heirloom children’s clothing, toys and accessories.

Building a business with your ‘chosen craft’

RUTLAND – Stone House Quilting, established in Rutland in 2002, has received numerous awards and recognition at quilt shows. Janet Block, owner and sole employee of the quilting business, considers herself fortunate: “It is very rewarding to be recognized for doing creative and excellent work in one’s chosen craft,” she says. “I am very lucky to be working at something I love and find beauty in.”
